Crypto Terms and Definitions

  • ATH - All-Time High

  • BSC - Binance Smart Chain, the blockchain made by Binance.com

  • Blockchain - A blockchain is a growing list of records, called blocks, that are securely linked together using cryptography. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data.

  • Centralized Exchange (CEX) - a type of cryptocurrency exchange that is operated by a company that owns it in a centralized manner.

  • Content Creator - someone who creates entertaining or educational material to be expressed through any medium or channel.

  • Crypto Token - a type of cryptocurrency that represents an asset or specific use and resides on their blockchain

  • Cryptocurrency Wallet - a secure digital wallet used to store, send, and receive digital currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB or LOF.

  • Cronos - Crypto.com Blockchain

  • DCA - Dollar Cost Average. Buying at a lower price then you entered to bring your overall entry price down. Example - Buy 100 at $1.00 and 100 at $0.50 to bring your average price to $0.75.

  • Decentralized Exchange (DEX) - a type of cryptocurrency exchange which allows for direct peer-to-peer cryptocurrency transactions to take place online securely and without the need for an intermediary.

  • Diamond Hands - Holding your assets in high volatility and not caving under pressure to sell.

  • FOMO - Fear of Missing Out

  • Gas - the fee, or pricing value, required to successfully conduct a transaction or execute a contract on the blockchain platforms.

  • Green Candles / Green Bars - Upward facing price action, represented by trading candles on a chart.

  • Honeypot - Token that only allows buys and sells are disabled. The chart looks great because it only goes up, then the scammer removes all the liquidity.

  • Liquidity - the amount of money an individual or corporation has on hand and the ability to quickly convert assets into cash.

  • LP - Liquidity Pool Token created by pairing two tokens together, allowing trading between the two. Example LOF/BNB is LOF paired with BNB to allow trading from one to the other.

  • Mainnet - an independent blockchain running its own network with its own technology and protocol. The Ethereum Network is also described as 'Mainnet' because it was the first blockchain that allowed building onto.

  • Market Cap - an indicator that measures and keeps track of the market value of a cryptocurrency.

  • Paper Hands - Opposite of Diamond Hands. Sells immediately under pressure. Highly emotional trader.

  • Red Candles / Red Bars - Downward facing price action, represented by trading candles on a chart.

  • Rugpull - Event in which the project or foreign actor removes all Liquidity from trading and exits, leaving token holders with valueless tokens.

  • SAFU - The word SAFU in crypto is Secure Asset Fund for Users, In other ways SAFU is a term used to denote ”Safe” in the crypto sphere.

  • Smart Contract - a self-executing contract, with the terms of the agreement between buyer and seller being directly written into lines of code.

  • Slippage - Slippage happens when traders have to settle for a different price than what they initially requested due to a price movement.

  • Staking - the process of locking up crypto holdings in order to obtain rewards or earn interest.

  • Tokenomics - Combination of the words Token and Economics that explain the basic economy surrounding the token.

  • Transaction Tax - Taxes Charged on the transaction in route to its destination, usually defined in the tokenomics for that token.
